If you type in the word "heart", for example, all categories that have heart as part of the word will appear on your screen. As you continue writing, the list will narrow down until you get to one category. For example, if you continued to write "heartb", the list would shrink to heartbeat, heartbeats and heartburn.

If you tap "heart", the next level of codes appears for that keyword search. At this point, if you see a sub category that corresponds to your search, you can choose it by tapping on the category. Or, you can continue writing another keyword.

As you write in a new keyword, the corresponding results begin to appear on your screen. Again, the list gets smaller and smaller as you write. You can use the erase icon at any time to erase a letter or entire keyword. In addition, you can use the back arrow to go back up a level to your previous results.

If you tap a category, (here "rheumatic" was tapped), a corresponding list of ICD-9 codes appears. Scroll through the list using to down arrow. When you find the appropriate ICD-9 code, simply tap it for the description.

This is a view of the final ICD-9 screen. You can tap on the face icon at the bottom left hand corner to add it to your favorites for easy, one-tap access in the future.
