BluefishRx ICD-9 Features

Multi-Keyword Search
The multi-keyword search will likely be your primary method for finding a code. You no longer need to search through the various disease categories to find a code that may be in one of many parts of the category tree. Entering a keyword will display all possible codes associated with that keyword. As you enter a keyword, a list of possible keyword matches is displayed. Select a keyword by tapping the desired word or enter enough letters of the word so that there is only one possible match. The BluefishRX ICD-9 auto complete feature will enter the remaining letters into the text field and display matching codes. If this doesn't narrow your search sufficiently then just enter a second, third or more keywords until you have narrowed your search to one or a handful of codes to individually view.

Bluefish Rx's ICD-9 keyword search engine enables you to search by common terms that are not necessarily part of the code description. For instance searching 'tinea capitis,' in Bluefish ICD-9 yields three possible codes:

110.0 Dermatophytosis of scalp and beard
110.9 Dermatophytosis of unspecified site
704.9 Other alopecia

Most other coding tools would yield no results for a search based on these words, as they are not contained in the code description. In order to search for the appropriate code via the disease categories, you would need to know that the code was found through the following sequence. Infectious and Parasitic Diseases -> Mycoses -> Dermatophytosis.

KRAM P Compression and Indexing
BluefishRx ICD-9 includes a robust compression tool, based on the KRAM P compression algorithm, that reduces the full ICD-9 code set, complete with both short and long descriptions, to a fraction of the size of the original data.

In addition, Bluefish Rx ICD-9 was built on an indexing architecture that makes the keyword searches instantaneous on even the least powerful handheld devices, not just the latest arm based devices.

The keyword indexes, which make this tool so powerful, are massive. Keywords such as 'Surgery' have over 5,000 corresponding CPT codes. Normally it would be impractical to put this data onto a handheld but with the KRAM P compression technology, we have been able to reduce the 532,000 keywords used to index the CPT and ICD-9 code sets, plus the actual code set data including full descriptions and all indexes to just over 1.5MB.

Favorites
You can easily build a favorites list that makes quick selection and browsing a breeze. Adding codes to your favorites list requires one tap and future look-ups are just as easy.

Quarterly Updates
ICD-9 Codes change regularly as do the keyword data. When you purchase BluefishRx ICD-9, you receive quarterly updates for one year. Updated data will be emailed directly to you for installation on your handheld device.
